This position is responsible for all production of optical assemblies, as well as training and overseeing optics cell managers. In addition, this individual spearheads internal and external design efforts for all new assemblies.
This includes guiding the design team and getting feedback from internal customers such as sales, as well as external customers.
The Assembly Cell Tech Manager is tasked with actively participating in process development and process improvement on all-optical assembly products with the goal of improving yield, reducing manufacturing cycle time, and developing tooling.
This individual will also manage a Class 1000 cleanroom with Class 100 work areas, maintaining proper procedures to ensure class rating.
Four-year degree in optics, engineering, or physical sciences
Minimum 10 years of experience in precision optics manufacturing and optical assemblies
Extensive knowledge of precision optical manufacturing, fabrication, and assembly techniques
Broad experience with optical and assembly tooling, tool design, and optical characterization/inspection techniques
Ability to develop new processes in an abbreviated time frame
Proactive approach to defining problems and implementing solutions
Adept in the use of various machinery including Blanchard grinders, surface grinders, double-lap grinders, spindle grinders and polishers, lathes, and planetary polishers
Knowledgeable in the theory and practice of essential measuring devices such as Zygo interferometers, Davidson interferometers, Nikon autocollimators, rotary tables, non-contact measurement systems, use of test plates with green light, extinction ratio testing, and drop gauge, as well as all assembly equipment
Good writing skills for reporting and documentation
Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
