01/11/2016 Salvo EO Announces New Low Temp Contact Bonding Solution

April 25, 2016

Seminole, FL—Salvo Electro Optics is pleased to announce it has developed a new low temperature bonding solution for optical contacted assemblies. “Our engineering team has recently developed a low temperature optical bonding process for dissimilar materials.” said Eric Mackey, Operations Manager at Salvo Technologies. “The new process allows us to further the work we have developed in the past. Previously the process was only capable of bonding materials with very similar CTE’s. This new improvement allows us to optically bond materials that have CTE’s an order of magnitude apart. This is an exciting breakthrough and opens up the design space for many of our customers.”

“As optical systems get smaller and smaller the design parameters become more constrained.” said Patrick Bass, Executive VP at Salvo Technologies. “To allow for more design options we are constantly trying to create opportunistic processes that help our customers achieve more design flexibility by increasing degrees of freedom typically lost through miniaturization.” The process is currently being tested for environmental stability including shock, vibe and thermal cycling but initial results have been very promising. The group expects the process to be available to their customers by the early part of Q2 2016.
