7/16/2013 Salvo EO Invests in Stock Optical Material and Test Tooling

March 28, 2015

Orlando, FL—Salvo Electro Optics LLC (Salvo EO), a leading electrooptic and optical fabrication company, has further broadened its capabilities by purchasing a supply of stock optical material and test tooling. The acquisition enables them to produce optical components for use in the visible to IR wavebands. The test tooling includes more than 3000 test plates.

A member of the Salvo Technologies LLC group of companies, Salvo EO produces optical components and assemblies for its sister divisions like Salvo Defense, as well as to a variety of external organizations. The new materials and equipment will enable it to satisfy the demands of its rapidly growing customer base.

The tooling acquired will be used in the fabrication of prisms and lenses. The plates are available for use by current customers; noncustomers may rent the items for a minimal fee.

“There’s an old saying in optics that if you can’t test it, you can’t make it,” said Eric Mackey, president of Salvo EO. “With this acquisition, we will not only speed our R&D and first article production time, we will have new tools to help us fabricate the best quality products possible.”
