4/18/2013 HDC Adds Comprehensive Machining Capability

March 28, 2015

Calera, AL—Hunt Distributing Co. (HDC), a leading supplier of high-performance firearms, is pleased to announce that it has outfitted its Calera, Alabama facility with a full machine shop to fabricate and customize rifles and shotguns with unrivaled quality. Serving the competitive, recreational, and security/defense firearms markets, HDC produces a range of lightweight rifles, shotguns, and optics. The company’s 4000 sq. ft. production facility now boasts a three axis CNC mill, a manual mill, and a manual lathe, as well as a comprehensive inventory of specialized firearms tooling. The combination of the speed and efficiency of automated tooling with the manufacturing skills of master craftsmen enables HDC to put high-performance, lightweight firearms in the hands of users at the most efficient price point.

Traditionally, gun enthusiasts have had to make tradeoffs between performance and ease of handling. HDC founder Nathan Hunt made it his mission to change that. “We put together featherweight firearms that don’t make accuracy compromises,” said Hunt. HDC builds highly accurate, user-friendly firearms including its 6lb Timos hunting rifles and its Home Wrecker line of home defense shotguns. “Our team of US military veterans, seasoned hunters and master gunsmiths has identified opportunities for cutting weight while minimizing recoil to maximize both comfort and performance. Our new machine shop allows us to realize those designs for a very reasonable price.”

In addition to machining, the facility offers customers the choice of two different metal finishes: Cerakote gun coatings and manganese phosphate Parkerizing finishes.
